A comprehensive 13-day circular itinerary along the northwest coast of the Iberian Peninsula, visiting the Cantabrian Sea, Galicia, and Portugal. Departing from Madrid by air-conditioned coach, after a stop in Zaragoza, we'll explore some of Spain's northern cities, which boast splendid green landscapes, old fishing villages, architectural treasures, and one of the most important centers of Christian pilgrimage in Santiago de Compostela. Before returning to Madrid, we'll visit Portugal, where you can delight in the colorful streets of Lisbon, the Christian devotion of Fátima, beautiful views from a cruise on the Douro River, and a tasting of the famous Port wine.

  • This tour is combined with other tours. Not all participants may have the same destination. Depending on the tour segment, the accompanying guide may change.
  • One standard suitcase and one carry-on bag per person is allowed. Any extra luggage may incur transportation charges. Luggage is the customer's responsibility.
  • We offer two different accommodation options: Superior T or Superior Plus A. Both categories, carefully selected, guarantee all our guests comfortable accommodations with high quality standards. Please note that Superior Plus A class is usually more centrally located.
  • Although our tours are bilingual, please select your preferred language at the time of booking.

Itinerary

  • Arrival at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. The latest time to arrive at the hotel and ensure departure without missing services is 3:00 PM.
  • Departure will be from our scheduled hotels in Madrid. Please check your documentation for more details about pickup. Departure to Zaragoza. Free time to visit the Basilica of the Virgin of Pilar, patron saint of Hispanic Heritage, and tour its old town. In the afternoon, continue to San Sebastián, one of the most famous tourist destinations in Spain and world-renowned for its International Film Festival. Accommodation.
    Pickup at the 'NH Ribera del Manzanares' hotel at 8:30 AM (recommended arrival time by 8:15 AM).
    Accommodation: Class T and A: Palacio de Aiete or similar.
  • Breakfast at the hotel. Panoramic tour of this French-style, bourgeois city, dominated by La Concha Bay and Beach. We will climb Mount Igueldo, from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the city. Rest of the day at leisure. In the afternoon, there is an optional visit to the picturesque villages of Hondarribia and Saint-Jean-de-Luz, now in French territory. Overnight at the hotel.

  • Breakfast and departure to Bilbao for a panoramic tour, where we will have free time on the Guggenheim Museum esplanade to admire this modern work of architecture. We will continue to Castro Urdiales, a typical fishing village where we will have free time. Departure for Santander, a port city nestled between the sea and the mountains, which has numerous beaches, such as El Sardinero, one of the most famous. Visit with a local guide to get to know this beautiful city in depth. Accommodation: Class T and A: Santemar or similar.
  • Breakfast. Departure for Santillana, one of the towns with the greatest historical and artistic value in Spain, home to true architectural treasures, such as the Collegiate Church of Santa Juliana, the most important Romanesque jewel in Cantabria. Continue to Covadonga, where we will have free time to visit the Sanctuary and the grotto with the image of the Virgin. In the afternoon, depart for Oviedo, located on a series of hills at the foot of the Naranco Mountains and noted for the beauty of its streets, many of which are pedestrianized. Its monuments are World Heritage Sites, including the Cathedral, one of the most important works of Asturian Gothic architecture. Accommodation: Class T and A: Sercotel Ciudad de Oviedo or similar.
  • Breakfast and departure for the Galician region. On the way to Lugo, stop in Mondoñedo; free time to visit its impressive 12th-century cathedral and try the delicious 'Mondoñedo Tarta'. Departure for Lugo and free time to contemplate the Roman remains that it still preserves, such as its walls, declared a World Heritage Site. Continue to Santiago de Compostela, whose ancient city is a World Heritage Site and one of the most important monumental centers in Spain, a center of Christian pilgrimage and the end of the Camino de Santiago, originally built by the Roman Empire. Accommodation.

  • Breakfast. Visit the city of Santiago, visiting Plaza del Obradoiro and its Cathedral (interior visit), dedicated to the Apostle Saint James the Greater. The rest of the day is free to continue exploring this city with its university and student atmosphere. Accommodation: Class T and A: Santiago Plaza affiliated by Meliá or similar.
  • Breakfast. Departure for the most picturesque area of the Galician Rías Bajas (Spanish fjords). Through splendid landscapes, we will reach the island of La Toja, world-renowned for its spa and natural beauty. Free time and continue along the Arosa estuary on the way to Portugal. Arrival in Porto and overnight stay.

  • Breakfast at the hotel. Panoramic tour of Porto, considered a World Heritage Site, where we will see the Cathedral, the Stock Exchange building, and the Church of Santa Clara. Afterwards, enjoy a different perspective of the city along the Douro River aboard a cruise and discover its historical heritage by visiting a renowned Port Wine Cellar with a wine tasting included. Rest of the day at leisure. Accommodation: Class T: AC Porto or similar // Class A: Cristal Porto, BessaHotel Boavista, Vila Galé Porto or similar.
  • Breakfast and overnight stay at the hotel. Free day in this magnificent city on the banks of the Douro.

  • Breakfast. Departure for Coimbra, home to one of Europe's oldest universities and the birthplace of Fado. Free time. Continue to Fátima. Center of Christian Faith and World Pilgrimage Sanctuary with its impressive Basilica and the Cova da Iria, the site of the Virgin Mary's apparition. The Chapel of the Apparitions, the heart of the sanctuary, houses the tombs of the three shepherd children, Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta. In the evening, you may attend the candlelight procession. Accommodation: Class T: Sao José or similar // Class A: Santa Maria, Aurea, Estrela, Regina, or similar.
  • Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for the Batalha Monastery, a Gothic and Manueline masterpiece considered a World Heritage Site. We will continue to the picturesque fishing village of Nazaré. Free time and continue to Alcobaça with its Gothic church and Cistercian monastery, whose origins date back to the 12th century, and then Lisbon. Arrival in the Portuguese capital and overnight stay.

  • Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, visit the city, formerly known as Olissipo, a tour of its main squares and avenues, Belem Tower, Jerónimos Monastery (exterior), Monument to the Discoveries, etc. Free afternoon to discover the nostalgic corners of this city such as the Alfama neighborhood or take the optional excursion to Sintra and Cascais (World Heritage Sites). Overnight at the hotel.
